The Northeast Georgia Carpet Climbing Repeat Ride AKA The Mad Brad (who was probably glad not to ride) Ride. The ride started on the square in downtown Clarksville again and the U’s showed up in force for the 75 mile ride. The U’s were recovering from a hard crit in Blairsville the day before which was very cold. The U’ s met the lovely Lisa Anderson who is the sponsor of the team this year. The crit was hard and slow paced but Matthew Martin pulled out the win in the end. The crit was somewhat controversial because Andy big motor was late to the start. He had many choice words for the back of the pack Lilly before he moved to the front and challenged Martin for the win. After a good rest the U’s were back to contest Brad’s very tough ride. There were 12 riders who showed up for the ride. The interesting thing about these ten riders is that Brad was not one of them and that was not a good sign. The riders were Ron Roach Coker, Shooting Star Bridges, Scott Landis-Hefner, Chris mountain bike Ross, Sleven compliment Dean, Sammy the Hammer Ariail, Rilley Dude and Tocoma Mahon, Duane Dude Dad Mahon, Darting Ebay Dustin Mealor, David Six kids? Park, John Whaaa Lilly, and Andy Big Motor Brackett. The rider started out fast paced due the Sammy setting a “ solid pace” to start the day. The riders all held on to Sammy and Duane ridding hard at the front until the first KOM at moccasin creek hill. The move was started by Roach Coker and he was chased by the pack until the last climb. Darting Ebay Dustin said he was not going but he did anyway. Big motor powered up the hill for the win followed by Ebay Dustin and Rilley Dude Mahon. Rilley said he sprinted for the yellow stop sign instead of the red stop sign that was the finish. You can make what you want of that statement. The decent was fast and Ariail and Lilly we stiff as boards the whole way down. This would prove almost deadly later in the ride. The ride was constant hills and the U’s were up to the challenge. On one very steep decent Lilly just did not every turn and headed for the cliff, and he took the Dude with him. Both riders were near death due to Lilly but both riders held on and stayed on the bike. Lilly was worried about his family and his neck. The Dude said he was worried about his bike. Again, you can make what you want of that statement. The next Kom was up cigarette mountain and Big motor won again followed by Sleven compliment Dean and Landis-Hefner. The last twelve miles into the sprint were very fast paced until the college which was the start of the sprint. Shooting Star was heard to say he was glad Old man Burch was not there to do a killer lead out. Whaaa Lilly heard that and tried to break the group up with a killer lead out. However it was just a flesh wound lead out the and the U train came flying by. The down hill sprint hurt compact crank Dean and the Roach. The Big motor had been on the front all day and did not go with the final move. Dustin EBay jumped first and no one could hold his wheel. Shooting Star was second with Big motor third. Dustin EBay went right home and put his sprint victory on EBay for $100 and got no bids. All the riders came in safe and a good ride was had by all.
